Went over white notes 6.1 pg. 71-72

Powerpoint 6.1
- Antoine Lavoisier - In the 1790's, Lavoisier listed all the elements known at the time.
- John Newlands - In 1864, Newlands proposed an organizational scheme and noticed that the elements were arranged by increasing atomic mass, their properties repeated every eighth element.
- Lothar Meyer & Dmitri Mendeleev - In 1869, each scientist demonstrated a connection between atomic mass and elemental properties. Mendeleev is given more credit than Meyer because he published his organizational scheme first. He also predicted the existence and properties of undiscovered elements that were later found. He left blank spaces in the table where he thought the undiscovered elements should go.
- Henry Moseley - In 1913, Mosely discovered that atoms of each element contains a unique number of protons. He arranged elements by increasing atomic number.
